Solids removal: Fermentation in a conical vessel will result in a solid ‘plug’ of yeast cells and absorbents collecting at the bottom of the vessel; this must be removed before the fermented alcohol base can be transferred from the vessel for filtration. The solids should be ‘blown’ out of the vessel outlet value by repeated short openings of the outlet valve followed by 2 hour re-settling time until the majority of the solids have been removed.
